Short answer: Dog daycare at Pawmenities in Lynnfield is $75 a day for adult dogs. Your dog spends the day in cage-free play groups matched by size and energy, with rest breaks, enrichment and staff supervision. Daycare members also get free chauffeur pickup and drop-off within three miles of the location.
For North Shore families, daycare solves the long-day problem. A commute into Boston can leave a dog alone ten hours or more, and a fenced yard doesn't replace company or exercise. This guide explains what a daycare day looks like, who it suits, and how to get started.
What a daycare day looks like
A good daycare day isn't eight straight hours of chaos. Dogs play in small groups matched by size, age and play style, then take scheduled rest periods so they don't get overtired. Through the day there's enrichment like puzzle toys and lick mats, time with people, and potty breaks on a routine. Most dogs come home pleasantly tired and ready to settle, not wired.
Who daycare is great for
- Puppies and adolescents: safe, supervised play during the months when social habits form.
- High-energy breeds: labs, shepherds, doodles and herding dogs that need more than a walk.
- Commuters: anyone gone for long stretches on the Newburyport/Rockport or Haverhill line.
- Future boarders: dogs who know the space from daycare settle into overnight stays much faster.
Nervous or reactive dogs are welcome. Tell us up front and we'll give them individual one-on-one time away from the group. Daycare has no care charge. Spay or neuter isn't required.

Free chauffeur for members
Getting your dog there is often the hardest part of daycare. Daycare members get free chauffeur pickup and drop-off within three miles of the Lynnfield location, so your dog can be collected in the morning and home before you are. Non-members can book a one-way ride for $25 (shared shuttle) or $40 (private chauffeur).
How often should your dog go?
Most dogs do best with two or three days a week. Very young or very active dogs may enjoy more, and seniors often prefer fewer, shorter weeks. Read how often a dog should go to daycare for help choosing.
Getting started
You'll need current vaccines (rabies, DHPP and Bordetella, with Bordetella within six months for dogs under one year), your dog's basic details, and the days you want. Book your first days online and we'll take it from there. Once your dog knows us, boarding on the North Shore or a board & train program is an easy next step.
